China Daily: We noticed that the Chinese medical team on COVID-19 to Ethiopia and Djibouti have accomplished their mission and returned to China on May 12. Can you give us more details on their work overseas?

 

趙立堅(jiān)：中國(guó)赴埃塞俄比亞和吉布提抗疫醫(yī)療專家組是中國(guó)政府向非洲派出的首批抗疫醫(yī)療專家組之一。

Zhao Lijian: The team of medical experts to Ethiopia and Djibouti was one of the first group of COVID-19 experts sent by the Chinese government to Africa.

 

專家組4月16日抵達(dá)埃塞俄比亞，30日轉(zhuǎn)戰(zhàn)吉布提。在近一個(gè)月的時(shí)間里，專家組同世衛(wèi)組織駐非機(jī)構(gòu)、非洲疾控中心、當(dāng)?shù)蒯t(yī)療機(jī)構(gòu)及衛(wèi)生官員分享抗疫經(jīng)驗(yàn)，交流防控心得；實(shí)地走訪了當(dāng)?shù)囟c(diǎn)收治醫(yī)院、隔離中心、檢測(cè)中心等，同當(dāng)?shù)蒯t(yī)護(hù)人員深入交流討論，有針對(duì)性地提出防控和診療建議。專家組的敬業(yè)精神和專業(yè)水平受到非方高度贊揚(yáng)和肯定。吉布提總理卡米勒5月10日專門向?qū)＜医M12名成員頒授“6·27獨(dú)立日”國(guó)家勛章，表彰專家組為吉布提抗疫所作貢獻(xiàn)。

The experts arrived in Ethiopia on April 16 and then traveled to Djibouti on April 30. In the past month or so, they shared anti-epidemic experience and know-how with WHO officials in the African Union, the Africa CDC and local medical institutions and health officials. The experts visited designated hospitals, quarantine centers and testing centers, discussed the epidemics with local medical workers and made calibrated propositions for containment and treatment. Their dedication and professionalism has been highly commended by the African side. On May 10, Djiboutian Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed awarded the Independence Day Medal of the Republic of Djibouti to the 12 members of the expert team for their contributions to the country.

 

自疫情發(fā)生以來，中方向非洲共派出5支抗疫醫(yī)療專家組，同非洲國(guó)家舉行近30次專家視頻會(huì)議。40多支中國(guó)援非醫(yī)療隊(duì)也在當(dāng)?shù)胤e極行動(dòng)，開展各類培訓(xùn)活動(dòng)近400場(chǎng)，同非方分享抗疫經(jīng)驗(yàn)，培訓(xùn)當(dāng)?shù)馗黝惾藛T2萬多人次。這些都是構(gòu)建更加緊密的中非命運(yùn)共同體的真實(shí)寫照。中方將始終同非洲兄弟堅(jiān)定站在一起，繼續(xù)支持非洲抗疫，攜手取得抗疫的最終勝利。

After the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, China sent five medical teams to Africa and held nearly 30 video conferences with African countries. The more than 40 medical teams already working in Africa also took active action, carrying out about 400 training activities to share anti-epidemic experience and provided training to over 20,000 local medical workers. These numbers vividly demonstrate a closer China-Africa community with a shared future. China will continue standing firm with our African brothers and supporting their efforts to fight COVID-19 for the final victory against the virus.

CRI: According to reports, China and Caribbean countries with diplomatic relations with it held a special vice foreign ministers’ video conference on COVID-19 yesterday. What does China think of the outcomes of this meeting? With the pandemic still wreaking havoc around the world, how does China plan to offer more support and assistance to Caribbean states whose national public health systems are relatively fragile?

 

趙立堅(jiān)：昨天，中國(guó)和加勒比建交國(guó)通過視頻方式舉行應(yīng)對(duì)新冠肺炎疫情副外長(zhǎng)級(jí)特別會(huì)議。中國(guó)和9個(gè)加勒比國(guó)家的代表與會(huì)。外交部副部長(zhǎng)鄭澤光與多米尼克外長(zhǎng)達(dá)魯共同主持了會(huì)議。與會(huì)各方圍繞各自新冠肺炎疫情和抗疫舉措、國(guó)際疫情和抗疫合作、中加抗疫合作、中加國(guó)際事務(wù)協(xié)調(diào)配合等議題深入交流，達(dá)成廣泛共識(shí)。

Zhao Lijian: Yesterday, China and Caribbean countries having diplomatic relations with it held a special vice foreign ministers’ meeting on COVID-19 via video link. Delegates from China and nine Caribbean states attended the virtual meeting co-hosted by Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang and Foreign Minister Kenneth Darroux of the Commonwealth of Dominica. They held in-depth exchange over issues including domestic COVID-19 situation and response, China-Caribbean cooperation in fighting the pandemic, and the two sides’ coordination and cooperation in international affairs, reaching wide consensus.

 

此次會(huì)議是中國(guó)和加勒比國(guó)家在全球抗擊新冠肺炎疫情關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻召開的一次重要會(huì)議。與會(huì)各方一致同意加強(qiáng)疫情防控合作，共同維護(hù)全球衛(wèi)生安全。堅(jiān)決反對(duì)把病毒政治化、污名化、標(biāo)簽化，堅(jiān)定維護(hù)多邊主義，支持世衛(wèi)組織在國(guó)際抗疫合作中發(fā)揮領(lǐng)導(dǎo)作用。加勒比國(guó)家重申堅(jiān)持一個(gè)中國(guó)原則，在涉及各自核心利益和重大關(guān)切問題上同中方相互支持，中方對(duì)此表示高度贊賞。

This was an important meeting between China and Caribbean countries at a crucial juncture in the global fight against COVID-19. All sides expressed readiness to enhance cooperation in prevention and control and jointly uphold global health security. The Caribbean side also expressed objection to politicizing, stigmatizing and labeling practices under the pretext of the pandemic, and support for WHO’s leading role in the global response. Caribbean countries reiterated their commitment to the one-China principle and to mutual assistance with China on matters concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns. China highly appreciates this.

 

在這場(chǎng)抗疫斗爭(zhēng)中，中國(guó)和加勒比國(guó)家同舟共濟(jì)、守望相助，共同譜寫了中加友誼的新篇章。這次會(huì)議為中加下階段開展疫情防控合作明確了方向。

China and the Caribbean countries have been supporting and assisting each other in the fight against COVID-19, adding a new chapter to China-Caribbean friendship. This virtual conference served to steer the two sides’ next-stage cooperation in fighting the pandemic.

 

中方將繼續(xù)堅(jiān)定不移地支持加勒比國(guó)家抗擊疫情，同各國(guó)分享抗疫經(jīng)驗(yàn)和救治方案，向各國(guó)提供抗疫物資和技術(shù)援助，為各國(guó)在中國(guó)采購(gòu)醫(yī)療物資提供便利。同時(shí)，中方將積極拓展同各國(guó)在貿(mào)易、投資等各領(lǐng)域務(wù)實(shí)合作，加強(qiáng)在國(guó)際及地區(qū)組織中的溝通協(xié)調(diào)，共同推動(dòng)雙方關(guān)系邁上新臺(tái)階。

Going forward, China will continue to firmly support the Caribbean side’s efforts against COVID-19, share our containment experience and treatment solutions, offer material and technical assistance, and facilitate foreign purchase of medical materials in China. Meanwhile, we will actively expand all-round practical cooperation with the Caribbean countries in areas like trade and investment and strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional organizations to elevate relations to a new level.

 

疫情是暫時(shí)的，中加友誼是長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)的。我們堅(jiān)信，經(jīng)過這次疫情洗禮，中國(guó)和加勒比國(guó)家的友誼與合作將進(jìn)一步得到鞏固和深化。

The pandemic will pass eventually but what China and the Caribbean countries have is an enduring relationship. The friendship and cooperation between the two sides, after the test of this pandemic, will emerge stronger and more profound.

 

法新社記者：關(guān)于法國(guó)政府計(jì)劃向臺(tái)灣出售武器，中國(guó)外交部已經(jīng)表示堅(jiān)決反對(duì)并要求法政府撤銷軍售計(jì)劃。但相關(guān)法國(guó)企業(yè)不接受中方批評(píng)。你對(duì)此有何回應(yīng)？

AFP: Regarding the French government’s plan to sell weapons to Taiwan, I understand the foreign ministry firmly opposes that and demands the French side withdraw its plan, but the French company just refuted China’s criticism. I wonder what’s your response to that?

 

趙立堅(jiān)：我們堅(jiān)決反對(duì)外國(guó)向臺(tái)灣地區(qū)出售武器或同臺(tái)灣開展軍事安全交流的立場(chǎng)是一貫的、明確的。中方已向法方表達(dá)嚴(yán)重關(guān)切。

Zhao Lijian: Our position is consistent and clear: we firmly oppose other countries selling arms to the Taiwan region or conducting military exchange with it. We have expressed grave concerns to the French side.

 

我們?cè)俅味卮俜ǚ姐∈匾粋€(gè)中國(guó)原則，撤銷對(duì)臺(tái)軍售計(jì)劃，避免給中法關(guān)系造成損害。

Once again we urge the French side to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and withdraw its arms sales plan to avoid more damage to China-France relations.

 

澳大利亞廣播公司記者：澳大利亞貿(mào)易部長(zhǎng)伯明翰表示，希望與中方對(duì)口官員通話，討論中方禁止部分澳牛肉進(jìn)口及可能對(duì)澳大麥征稅事宜。中方是否愿就這兩個(gè)問題同澳方進(jìn)行政治層面的對(duì)話？

ABC Australia: Australian Trade Minister Simon Birmingham has expressed that he is seeking talks with his Chinese trade counterpart to discuss both the suspension of four Australian beef companies export certification and also the potential barley tariffs. Would the Chinese side be willing to facilitate talks at the political level about these two issues?

 

趙立堅(jiān)：這兩天我已經(jīng)就澳大利亞牛肉產(chǎn)品輸華以及澳大麥關(guān)稅問題闡明了中方的立場(chǎng)。

Zhao Lijian: I stated China’s position in the past couple of days on Australian beef exports and tariffs on Australian barley.

 

我們也已多次表明，中方對(duì)于發(fā)展中澳關(guān)系的立場(chǎng)是一貫的、明確的。一個(gè)健康穩(wěn)定的中澳關(guān)系符合兩國(guó)共同利益，但這需要雙方的共同努力。我們希望澳方同中方相向而行，切實(shí)秉持相互尊重、平等互利原則，多做有利于中澳互信與合作、符合中澳全面戰(zhàn)略伙伴關(guān)系精神的事。

Like we said, China’s position on its relationship with Australia is clear and consistent. Sound and stable China-Australia ties serve the common interests of both, but it takes efforts from both sides to ensure such a relationship. We hope Australia can work with us to uphold
