Before seeing it, I assumed that “Citizenfour,” Laura Poitras’s documentary about the National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, would be yet another work of earnest cinematic advocacy, preaching to the choir on issues already widely aired in the news media. What I saw was something much more subtle, artful and unnerving: an eyewitness political thriller dramatizing the confrontation, in an ideologically confused and technologically tangled age, between the individual and the state.

3.勞拉·珀特拉斯(Laura Poitras)的 《第四公民》(Citizenfour)講述愛德華·斯諾登(Edward Snowden)泄露國家安全局機密的故事，在觀看之前，我覺得它可能又是一部真誠的辯護電影，在傳播一些新聞媒體中已經(jīng)被說了很多的言論大合唱。但我看到的東西要更加微妙、有技巧而令人不安：這是一部目擊式政治驚悚片，在這個意識形態(tài)混亂、技術(shù)進步糾結(jié)錯綜的年代，將個人與國家之間的沖突處理得更加戲劇化。
