used to say that a person should avoid doing something bad in the future thanks to the experience of the effects of their actions
這下(某人)該知道(做某事的)后果了,這下(某人)該知道(不應(yīng)做某事了)
它使用的場(chǎng)景是這樣的:
You can say this after something bad has happened to someone who should have been more careful, or should have known better.
你可以在某人發(fā)生了不好的事情之后,這件不好的事情是他本來(lái)應(yīng)該更小心,或者應(yīng)該更清楚的時(shí)候說(shuō)這句話。
例:
A: Have you heard? Matthew was cycling home last night and crashed into a car.
你聽(tīng)說(shuō)了嗎,馬修昨晚騎自行車回家時(shí)撞車了。
B: That'll teach him, riding his bicycle without lights as usual.
這下他該知道像往常一樣騎自行車沒(méi)有燈是不行的了。
That'll teach him to go out without his house keys!
那就是他不帶房門(mén)鑰匙出去的教訓(xùn)。
