詞語(yǔ)翻譯與語(yǔ)言語(yǔ)境（5）

　　漢語(yǔ)中的詞語(yǔ)重復(fù)現(xiàn)象比英語(yǔ)多。當(dāng)作者有意使用重復(fù)手段時(shí)，便形成一種修辭格，稱為“反復(fù)”。“反復(fù)”可加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣。此例中，魯貴一口氣說(shuō)了四個(gè)“對(duì)得起我”，表達(dá)了強(qiáng)烈的感情。王佐良先生遵照英美人傾向于以變化的方式表達(dá)同一概念的習(xí)慣，在充分領(lǐng)會(huì)它們之間細(xì)微差別的前提下，用不同的譯法傳達(dá)出魯貴不同的語(yǔ)氣和強(qiáng)調(diào)重點(diǎn)：There's not one of you who can look me in the face!(你們誰(shuí)能坦然地面對(duì)我，問(wèn)心無(wú)愧?);what have either of you ever done to show your gratitude?(你們拿什么來(lái)報(bào)答我?);what have you ever done for me that you can be proud of?(你們什么時(shí)候給我爭(zhēng)光長(zhǎng)臉啦?)If I did die, you'd have it on your conscience(我要是餓死了，你們良心上怎么過(guò)得去?)。出于同樣的考慮，譯者還將三個(gè)“你說(shuō)”用不同的句式靈活地予以處理，充分表現(xiàn)了魯貴在面對(duì)兒子、女兒和妻子時(shí)在態(tài)度、語(yǔ)氣和情感上的細(xì)微差別。
