A brown chest of drawers stood in one corner, a narrow white-counterpaned bed in another,

房間的一隅立著一只帶抽屜的褐色櫥柜，另一隅安置著一張窄窄的罩著白色床罩的床，

and a dressing-table on the left-hand side of the window.

窗子的左側(cè)是一只梳妝臺(tái)。

These articles, with two small wicker-work chairs,

這些家具加上兩把柳條椅子就是這個(gè)房間的全部擺設(shè)了，

made up all the furniture in the room save for a square of Wilton carpet in the centre.

只是正當(dāng)中還有一塊四方形的威爾頓地毯而已。

The boards round and the panelling of the walls were of brown, worm-eaten oak,

房間四周的木板和墻上的嵌板是蛀孔斑斑的棕色櫟木，

so old and discoloured that it may have dated from the original building of the house.

Holmes drew one of the chairs into a corner and sat silent,

"No, I never heard of her using it. We used always to get what we wanted for ourselves."
