He's a walker/runner/jogger: 他很喜歡走路/跑步/慢跑

A walker can as be a device that helps the elderly walk more steadily: 助行器可以幫助老年人走得更穩(wěn)

補(bǔ)充一個(gè)節(jié)目中忘記提的——人行道!它的叫法在各個(gè)英語(yǔ)國(guó)家會(huì)不同：

sidewalk: 人行道，美國(guó)的常用講法

pavement: 人行道，英國(guó)的常用講法 (Adele有首歌叫做Chasing Pavement)

過(guò)馬路有以下這些過(guò)法:

crosswalk: 人行橫道 (中文里有時(shí)叫斑馬線，其實(shí)英語(yǔ)里也有對(duì)應(yīng)zebra crossing，不過(guò)在美國(guó)不太用就是了)

pedestrain overpass: 人行天橋

underground passage: 地下通道

Are there more jaywalkers in China than in the United States?: 中國(guó)亂穿馬路的人比美國(guó)多嗎?

地鐵的各種說(shuō)法:

metro: 地鐵 (最早是從metropolitan這個(gè)詞變過(guò)來(lái)的)

subway: 地鐵

underground: 地鐵在英國(guó)的叫法

tube: 倫敦的地鐵

In San Francisco, the metro is called BART, which is short for Bay Area Rapid Transit: 舊金山的地鐵叫做BART, 意思是灣區(qū)快速公交

It's worth noting that when it comes to the subway in NYC, "downtown" means "southward" instead of the center of the city : 在紐約地鐵上“downtown”指“往城南方向” (uptown就是往城北)

美國(guó)距離用英里

Canadians use kilometers, while Americnas use miles: 加拿大用千米，美國(guó)人用的是英里

One mile is the equivalent of roughly 1.6 kilometers: 一英里差不多是1.6千米

foot/feet: 英尺

inch/inches: 英寸

yard/yards: 一碼

If you use Google Maps, you can change the measurement from "mile" to "kilometer" in settings: 如果你用谷歌地圖，可以在設(shè)置里把度量單位從英里改成千米

urban roads: 城市道路

highway: 高速公路

freeway/expressway: 也是高速公路，口語(yǔ)里基本跟highway混著用了，具體不同
