學(xué)了好久英語，卻不知道基本符號怎么說?*、#、//、...只能靠比手劃腳溝通?聽今天節(jié)目，學(xué)常用符號、標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號英語怎么說!

最常用的標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號包括逗號、句號、感嘆號、問號等等，其中要注意逗號comma有兩個(gè)m，第一元音跟orange的o發(fā)音一樣，不小心發(fā)錯(cuò)“逗號”可能就變“昏迷”了。

punctuation marks: 標(biāo)點(diǎn)符號

Let's start with the common ones: 我們先來說說最常見的

comma: 逗號 (,) /?k?m?/

coma: 昏迷 /?k??m?/

period/full stop: 這兩個(gè)詞都是句號的意思，但是period一詞在北美更常用

According to Adam, “full stop” is a dated expression that is rarely used in North America today: Adam表示“full stop”這個(gè)講法有點(diǎn)老了，在北美現(xiàn)在很少有人用

美國人口語常說“period"，是個(gè)什么意思?

?？疵绖〉呐笥芽赡苈犨^美國人說一句話，最后用“period"結(jié)尾.

比如說：

We're not buying that toy. Period.

We're not getting married. Period.

I'm not giving you any money. Period.

這個(gè)"period"是什么意思?

If someone adds “period” to the end of a sentence, it means it's the end of the discussion; no room for negotiation: 如果在一句話結(jié)尾說“period”, 意思就是這是最終的決定、沒有什么好談的

冒號、大腸在英語里是一個(gè)詞

exclamation mark/point: 感嘆號 (!)

It seems like when sending messages, people always use the exclamation mark now: 現(xiàn)在好像發(fā)信息大家都一定要加感嘆號

If you don't use exclamation marks or emojis, people might think you're unhappy or insincere: 如果你不用感嘆號或者表情，那別人會(huì)覺得你可能心情不好，或者很冷漠

colon: 冒號，另外還有個(gè)意思是大腸

中劃線、下劃線、破折號英語怎么說?

破折號dash和連字符hyphen是兩個(gè)不同的符號，前者更長一些，后者用于連接單詞。下劃線在郵箱地址里最常見。

dash: 破折號 (—)

hyphen: 連字符 (-)

A hyphen is shorter than a dash: 連字符比破折號要短

The kid is well-behaved: 這個(gè)孩子很乖

He's well-educated: 他很有教養(yǎng)，受過良好教育

Dash is less common in English than hyphen: 破折號在英語里用的比連字符少

Should we hyphenate it?: 這個(gè)詞中間加不加連字符?

Underscore: 下劃線 (_)

Underscores are often seen in email address: 下劃線在郵箱地址中經(jīng)?？吹?/p>

I remember in high school or middle school, all the girls started to get email addresses with underscores in them: 初中還高中的時(shí)候，女生都開始注冊郵箱了，郵箱地址里都帶著下劃線

一撇S英語怎么說?

apostrophe: 撇號 (')

It looks like a flying comma: 它像是個(gè)飛起來的逗號

美式吐槽，都靠用手比“引號”

引號在美國文化中有著神奇的地位，因?yàn)槊朗接哪缮俨涣怂芏嘀S刺、挖苦的情緒都要靠這對air quotes來表達(dá)。

single/double quotation marks: 單引號/雙引號

air quotes："空氣引號”，即用手比引號

When people don't believe in something, they use air quotes when saying it: 講到一個(gè)自己都不信的事情，也就是我們常說的“所謂的”，可以拿手比一對“空氣引號”

He's the quote unquote most handsome guy in the office: (“空氣引號”也可以念出來) 他是辦公室里最“帥”的人

括號怎么說?

括號的種類非常多，每種用法也不一樣，最常用的還是圓括號——parenthesis/parentheses。它的單復(fù)數(shù)變化比較特別，小伙伴們一定要記住哦。

parenthesis/parentheses/brackets: 括號，即 ( )

square brackets: 方括號 ([ ])

angle brackets: 尖括號 (< >)

Angle brackets are seldom used in English: 尖括號英語里很少用

French quotes: 書名號 (《 》)

Generally speaking, for the names of books, English speakers use italics: 書名在英語里一般斜體表示，而不是書名號

省略號、斜杠怎么說?

ellipsis/ellipses: 省略號 (英語的只有三個(gè)點(diǎn)…)

Many people just call ellipses “dot dot dot”: 很多人管省略號叫“點(diǎn)點(diǎn)點(diǎn)”

forward slash: 斜杠 (/)

backslash: 反斜杠 (\)

&呢?

ampersand: 表示“和”，在中文里好像沒有名字 (&)

Not many people know the name of this punctuation mark: 很多英語母語人士其實(shí)也不知道“&”叫什么

R&D (Research & Development): 研發(fā)，念成“R and D”

Whether you wanna call it ampersand or “and”, always read it out: 不管你怎么叫符號“&”，英語里面說的時(shí)候要把它說出來

H&M: 念作“H and M”，不能省略and

電話機(jī)上的兩個(gè)符號

如此熟悉又陌生的兩個(gè)符號，每天打電話都看到它們，但它們的英文名你都會(huì)了嗎?

star sign: 星號 (*)

星號還有一個(gè)名字叫asterisk, 指打字的時(shí)候，做標(biāo)識用的星號

pound sign: 井號 (#)，

井號也有另一個(gè)名字：hashtag，用在社交媒體上。比如#openlanguage讀出來應(yīng)該是hashtag openlanguage，而不是pound sign openlanguage
