He's in the pink. 可不是“他穿粉色的衣服”！

英語中跟顏色有關(guān)的習(xí)語有很多，

今天咱們來學(xué)習(xí)這兩個(gè)：

1. in the pink

當(dāng)一個(gè)人告訴你：He is in the pink. 你看了看他：沒穿粉衣服呀，那你就應(yīng)該知道他想說的其實(shí)是自己的身體很好。

1)含義： in the pink：In a state of robust good health. 即“非常健康;氣色紅潤(rùn);精力充沛”。

2)來源：in the pink這個(gè)習(xí)慣用語的出處說法各有不同。有的人說，in the pink這個(gè)俗語可能是來自跑馬場(chǎng)，因?yàn)樵谀抢?，人們?in the pink用來形容那些看起來很健壯的馬。

但是，有的人有不同的看法;他們認(rèn)為凡是身體健康的人，他們的皮膚都會(huì)呈現(xiàn)一種粉色的光澤，就像我們說有的人臉色很好，白里透紅一樣。

3)用法：

你可以用來形容病人康復(fù)后的身體狀況：

He recovered completely from his surgery and has been in the pink ever since.

也可以用在日常對(duì)話里：

A: Hello. Good evening. How are you?

2. green with envy

1)含義：看字面意思就能理解，這個(gè)習(xí)語其實(shí)是“嫉妒”的意思：Very jealous of another person.

2)來源：之所以用green與envy搭配，可能源于莎士比亞將嫉妒稱之為“綠色疾病”：Shakespeare described envy as the green sickness.

3)用法：

用來形容別人/自己嫉妒的樣子

My new car made my neighbor green with envy.

我的新車讓鄰居很嫉妒。

She told us she was going to live in Paris and we were all green with envy.

她告訴我們她要去巴黎定居，我們都很嫉妒。
