春天及一切(節(jié)選)

By the road to the contagious hospital

under the surge of the blue mottled clouds

driven from the northeast—a cold wind.

藍(lán)天之下洶涌云彩

斑駁著從東北吹來通往傳染病院的路上

一陣?yán)滹L(fēng)改變了視線方向

Beyond, the waste of broad, muddy fields

brown with dried weeds,

standing and fallen

patches of standing water

the scattering of tall trees.

遠(yuǎn)處，大片開闊洪荒之地

褐色的草木一歲一枯榮間

或有一塊一塊死水

到處是高大的樹木

All along the road

the reddish purplish, forked, upstanding,

twiggy stuff of bushes and small trees

with dead, brown leaves under them

leafless vines

—路上低矮樹叢枝條斜橫

紅的紫的 叉開的直立的

許多小樹下面是枯萎的昏黃的樹葉

和脫盡葉子的藤蔓

Lifeless in appearance,

sluggish dazed spring approaches—

景色呆滯了無生氣

然后春天卻慢悠悠地來了

They enter the new world naked,

cold, uncertain of all

save that they enter.

春天赤裸裸地進(jìn)入新世界

寒冷之中義無反顧

All about them the cold, familiar wind

四周的早已不大在乎

依然刮著熟悉的寒風(fēng)

Now the grass, tomorrow

眼下，草地返青了，明天

the stiff curl of wildcarrot leaf

野蘿卜將吐出堅實的芽胞

One by one objects are defined—

萬物將逐個展露芳容

It quickens: clarity, outline of leaf

迅速抽芽，模樣清晰，葉子呈現(xiàn)輪廓

But now the stark dignity of entrance—

然而現(xiàn)在，是一派莊嚴(yán)的

Still, the profound change

初春景象–深刻的變化已經(jīng)

has come upon them: rooted they

降臨人間：扎下根去

grip down and begin to awaken

使勁向下伸展，大地開始蘇醒
