這算什么?誰怕黑就是怕我!我倒要追究個明白!
SPANISH SAILOR
西班牙水手:
(Aside.) He wants to bully, ah!--the old grudge makes me touchy (Advancing.)
(旁白)他要嚇唬人啦,啊!舊恨教我容易動肝火。(走上前來)
Aye, harpooneer, thy race is the undeniable dark side of mankind--devilish dark at that. No offence.
喂,標槍手呀,你們的族類,無可否認的是屬于人類的黑派的而且象魔鬼一般黑。這并沒有冒犯的意思。
DAGGOO (Grimly)None.
大個兒(兇巴巴的):一點也不對。
ST. JAGO'S SAILOR
圣。約哥水手:
That Spaniard's mad or drunk.
這個西班牙佬不是發(fā)瘋就是喝醉了。
But that can't be, or else in his one case our old Mogul's fire-waters are somewhat long in working.
不過,發(fā)瘋是不可能的,可照他那情形看來,要么是我們的老蒙兀兒的酒有點兒后勁。
5TH NANTUCKET SAILOR
南塔開特水手戊:
What's that I saw-lightning? Yes.
我看到什么啦,閃電嗎?不錯。
SPANISH SAILOR
西班牙水手:
No; Daggoo showing his teeth.
不;是大個兒在齜牙露齒啦。
DAGGOO (Springing)
大個兒(跳將起來):
Swallow thine, mannikin! White skin, white liver!
閉住你的狗嘴,矮仔!白皮仔,膽小鬼!
SPANISH SAILOR (Meeting him)
西班牙水手(沖著他):
Knife thee heartily! big frame, small spirit!ALL
宰掉你!大個子,膽小鬼!全體:
A row! a row! a row!
吵架嘍!吵架嘍!吵架嘍!
TASHTEGO (With a whiff)
塔斯蒂哥(噴口煙):
A row a'low, and a row aloft-Gods and men-both brawlers! Humph!
地上吵架,天上也在吵架...神和人...都是愛吵架的家伙!哼!
BELFAST SAILOR
貝爾法斯特水手:
A row! arrah a row! The Virgin be blessed, a row! Plunge in with ye!
吵架啦!唉,又吵架啦!天呀,又吵架啦!你們吵吧!
ENGLISH SAILOR
英國水手:
Fair play! Snatch the Spaniard's knife! A ring, a ring!
公平交易!奪掉那西班牙人的小刀!拳斗吧,拳斗吧!
OLD MANX SAILOR
人島老水手:
Ready formed. There! the ringed horizon.
架勢都擺好啦。哼!真是一副拳斗的場面。
In that ring Cain struck Abel. Sweet work, right work! No? Why then, God, mad'st thou the ring?
該隱就在這樣的拳斗里把亞伯打死的。真干得好,真干得妙!不對嗎?那么,上帝,是你搞起這場拳斗嗎?
