Hallo, you sir, cried the Captain, a gaunt rib of thesea, stalking up to Queequeg,

那小伙子嚎叫著奔向船長。 船長昂首挺胸地走了過來，沖著魁魁格吼道：

what in thunder do you mean by that? Don't youknow you might have killed that chap?

嘿，你，你想干什么?你那樣干會弄死他的!懂嗎?

What him say? said Queequeg, as he mildly turnedto me.

他在講什么? 魁魁格不緊不慢地回過頭來問我。

He say, said I, that you came near kill-e that manthere, pointing to the still shivering greenhorn.

他說，你是不是要把那個小伙子弄死? 我一邊說，一邊指了指那個哆哆嗦嗦的小伙子。

Kill-e, cried Queequeg, twisting his tattooed face into an unearthly expression of disdain, ah!him bevy small-e fish-e;

什么?弄死?不，不，不，他，太小了，小小的魚!

Queequeg no kill-e so small-e fish-e; Queequeg kill-e big whale!

魁魁格不殺小魚，魁魁格殺的是大鯨魚! 魁魁格蔑視地說。

Look you, roared the Captain, I'll kill-e YOU, you cannibal, if you try any more of your tricksaboard here; so mind your eye.

好了，你這個野東西!再搗亂我就弄死你，小心點!

But it so happened just then, that it was high time for the Captain to mind his own eye.

船長的話還沒說完，海上便吹來一陣狂風(fēng)，

The prodigious strain upon the main-sail had parted the weather-sheet, and the tremendousboom was now flying from side to side, completely sweeping the entire after part of the deck.

主帆離了杠，帆杠飛快地左轉(zhuǎn)幾圈、右轉(zhuǎn)幾圈。

The poor fellow whom Queequeg had handled so roughly, was swept overboard;

那個毛頭小伙子一下子被掃到了海里!

all hands were in a panic; and to attempt snatching at the boom to stay it, seemed madness.

大家慌做一團(tuán)，有的往艙里奔，有的伸手想抓住帆杠卻又怕那東西力量太大把自己也帶到海里。

It flew from right to left, and back again, almost in one ticking of a watch, and every instantseemed on the point of snapping into splinters.

帆杠飛轉(zhuǎn)著，以一股不可阻擋的瘋狂勁兒橫掃著一切，

Nothing was done, and nothing seemed capable of being done; those on deck rushed towardsthe bows, and stood eyeing the boom as if it were the lower jaw of an exasperated whale.

人們圍著它，束手無策。 就像一條被激怒的巨鯨的下顎。
