Panama is the site of The Summit of the Americas. It`s an international meeting being held today and tomorrow in Panama City, the capital. The summit includes dozens of leaders from throughout the Western Hemisphere and it focuses on cooperation between countries and addressing the challenges facing the people of the Americas.

巴拿馬是美洲峰會(huì)的召開地址。美洲峰會(huì)是一場國際會(huì)議,于今天和明天首都巴拿馬城召開。參加峰會(huì)的有數(shù)十位來自西半球的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人,其會(huì)議主義側(cè)重于國家間合作和解決美洲地區(qū)人民面臨的挑戰(zhàn)。

This is the seventh summit since 1994. It`s the first one that Cuba will attend.

這是1994年來第七次召開美洲峰會(huì),這也是古巴首次參與美洲峰會(huì)。

President Obama has moved toward normalizing U.S. relations with the communist country. He doesn`t have a formal meeting scheduled with Cuban President Raul Castro. But the two leaders are expected to interact on the sidelines of the summit. That`s one thing that Western leaders will be keeping their eyes on.

奧巴馬已經(jīng)采取措施驅(qū)使美國與這個(gè)共產(chǎn)主義國家關(guān)系正常化。奧巴馬此前沒有與古巴總統(tǒng)卡斯特羅舉行正式會(huì)議的計(jì)劃。但是兩位領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人預(yù)計(jì)會(huì)在峰會(huì)期間相互溝通。這將是西方領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人關(guān)注的焦點(diǎn)。
