pass the buck 這則俚語的起源和紙牌游戲有關，據(jù)說在19世紀的紙牌游戲中，buck是指“獵獸用的大型鉛彈”或者“帶鹿角手柄的刀”。當輪到某人發(fā)牌時，這個東西就會轉交給他。在1865年，這個短語成為紙牌術語，意思是：“將發(fā)牌權轉交給某人”。后來，逐漸演變成：“把責任推給另一個人”。因此，當美國人說"Don't pass the buck."時，他/她要表達的意思就是:"Don't shirk your responsibility."、"Don't shift the blame to others."。
