draw straws 是指：“抽簽，抓鬮兒”的意思，以前人們不能決定某事時，就會用不同長度的稻草來抽簽，一個人將長長短短的稻草攥在手中，露出相同長度的一截，當(dāng)然現(xiàn)在還有拋硬幣或猜拳來決定的方式。因此，當(dāng)美國人說"How about drawing straws to decide?"時，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"Shall we make the decision by drawing lots?"、"Can we decide it by tossing a coin?"。
