have a leg to stand on 這個俚語從字面上看不難理解，講的是：“有站立的腿，站得住腳”，可以引申指：“論點站得住腳，有事實根據”。因此，當美國人說"I don't see you have a leg to stand on."時，他/她要表達的意思就是:"What you said is untenable."、"You don't have a justifiable or logical basis for defense."、"Your opinion or argument is full of holes."。
