42課 Not very musical

As we had had a long walk through one of themarkets of old Delhi, we stopped at a square tohave a rest. After a time, we noticed a snakecharmer with two large baskets at the otherside of the square, so we went to have a look athim. As soon as he saw us, he picked up a longpipe which was covered with coins and openedone of the baskets. When he began to play a tune,wehad our first glimpse of the snake. It rose out ofthe basket and began to follow the movements ofthe pipe. We were very much surprised when the snake charmer suddenly began to play jazzand modern pop songs. The snake, however, continued to 'dance' slowly. It obviously could nottell the difference between Indian music and jazz!

語法歸納："have + a / an +名詞"相當于與該名詞相對應的動詞

一句話總結(jié)：“have +名詞”中have沒有實際的意思。常見此類用法的詞有:

過了一小會兒，我們注意到廣場的那一邊有一個帶著兩個大籃子的耍蛇人，于是就走過去看看。

語言點2 介詞短語 with two large baskets 和at the other side of the square 作 snake charmer 的后置定語

語言點3 went to have a look實際是兩個動作，went為謂語動間，to have a look為非謂語動詞，可譯為“走過去看看”.

3. As soon as he saw us, he picked up a long pipe which was covered with coins andopened oneof the baskets.

他一看見我們，就拿起一根長長的上面鑲著硬幣的管樂器，并掀開了一個籃子的蓋子。
