My daughter, Jane, never dreamed of receiving aletter from a girl of her own age in Holland. Last year,we were traveling across the Channel and Jane put apiece of paper with her name and address on it intoa bottle. She threw the bottle into the sea. Shenever thought of it again, but ten months later, shereceived a letter from a girl in Holland. Both girlswrite to each other regularly now. However, theyhave decided to use the post office. Letters will cost a little more, but they will certainlytravel faster.

這樣會(huì)稍微多花點(diǎn)錢，但肯定要快得多了。

語言點(diǎn) 比較spends cost, take

1) sb. spend +時(shí)間+(in) doing sth. 某人在某事上花費(fèi)時(shí)間

2) sb. spend +金錢+ on sth. 某人在某物i花錢

例如：He spent six hours reading this book.他花了6個(gè)小時(shí)讀這本書。

We spent an hour learning Lesson 22.我們花了一個(gè)小時(shí)學(xué)習(xí)第22 課。

I spent 10 yuan in buying / on a notebook.我花 10元錢買了一個(gè)筆記本。

3) sth. cost sb. + 金錢 某物花了某人多少錢

This television cost me 2,000 yuan.這臺(tái)電視花了我2000元。

本課中 cost a little more 后省去了 money。

4) sth. take +時(shí)間 某事占用時(shí)間

Reading this book took me six hours.讀這本書花了我6個(gè)小時(shí)。

It took me a month to learn New Concept English Book 2.

學(xué)習(xí)《新概念英語》2冊(cè)用 了我一 個(gè)月的時(shí)間。
