My daughter, Jane, never dreamed of receivinga letter from a girl of her own age in Holland.Last year, we were traveling across the Channeland Jane put a piece of paper with her nameand address on it into a bottle. She threw thebottle into the sea. She never thought of it again,but ten months later, she received a letter from a girlin Holland. Both girls write to each other regularlynow. However, they have decided to use the post office. Letters will cost a little more, but theywill certainly travel faster.

我的女兒簡從未想到過會收到荷蘭的一位同齡女孩的來信!
語言點1 Jane是my daughter的同位語。
語言點2 dream of為固定搭配。
語言點3 表示年齡：a girl of：..(參考Lesson 17)。本句中這個短語還可用the same...as代替：a girlof her own age = the girl who is the same age as Jane。
2、Last year, we were traveling across the Channel and Jane put a piece of paper withher name and address on it into a bottle.
去年，當我們橫渡英吉利海峽時，簡把寫著她名字和住址的一張紙條裝進了一只瓶子。
語言點1 were traveling across (當時)正穿越,(當時)橫渡
語言點2 put a piece of paper with her name中，with意為“具有，帶有”(表伴隨),相當于together with，起修飾作用：Yesterday I saw a pretty girl with a big / wide mouth. 昨天我看見了一個大嘴美女。
