Lesson20 One man in a boat

課文內(nèi)容：

Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hourswithout catching anything. But this does not worryme. Some fishermen are unlucky. Instead of catchingfish, they catch old boots and rubbish. I am evenless lucky. I never catch anything-not even oldboots. After having spent whole mornings onthe river, I always go home with an empty bag. ‘You must give up fishing!' my friends say.‘It's awaste of time.' But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. Iam only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all !

7.I never catch anything-not even old boots.

我什么都沒(méi)有釣到過(guò)——甚至連舊靴子也沒(méi)有。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)1 never表示一點(diǎn)可能都沒(méi)有,程度比一般否定要深。

對(duì)比學(xué)習(xí)：I do not love you. 我不愛(ài)你。

I never love you.我從沒(méi)愛(ài)過(guò)你。(—點(diǎn)可能性都沒(méi)有)

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)2 英語(yǔ)中破折號(hào)(dash)后為補(bǔ)充說(shuō)明內(nèi)容，在此進(jìn)一步補(bǔ)充說(shuō)明前面的anything。

8.After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an emptybag.

我總是在河上待過(guò)整整一上午，然后空著袋子回家。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)1 after having spent和after spending意思是“在度過(guò)……以后”，前者多用在書(shū)面語(yǔ)中 多用在口語(yǔ)中，為簡(jiǎn)潔的表達(dá)法。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)2 with “和，帶著”，表伴隨;I went out with enough money. 我?guī)е銐虻腻X(qián)出門(mén)了。/He oftengoes to school with his sister. 他經(jīng)常和姐姐一塊去上學(xué)。

9.‘You must give up fishing!' my friends say.

“你可別再去釣魚(yú)了!”我的朋友們說(shuō)。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)1 復(fù)習(xí)must的用法：

1) We must obey orders. 我們必須服從命令。

2) must be 肯定是：We must be very tired after working a whole day. 工作了一天你肯定非常累了。

語(yǔ)言點(diǎn)2 1) give up放棄;認(rèn)輸;戒掉;不再做：give up smoking戒煙;give up drinking戒酒;give upeating 節(jié)食

2) give oneself up= surrender to 投降

The suspects gave themselves up.這些嫌疑犯投降了。

2) (口語(yǔ))What gives? =What’s wrong? =What’s the matter?發(fā)生什么事了?
