暮光之城?暮色 第34期:第三章 現(xiàn)象(4)
醫(yī)護(hù)人員又是一陣慌亂，又一張擔(dān)架床推到了挨著我的那張病床邊上。我認(rèn)出來(lái)是政府學(xué)班上的泰勒·克勞利，他頭上緊緊纏著血跡斑斑的繃帶。泰勒看上去比我原以為的要糟一百倍。可他還在焦急地盯著我。
"Bella, I'm so sorry!"
"貝拉，我真是太抱歉了!"
"I'm fine, Tyler — you look awful, are you all right?" As we spoke, nurses began unwinding his soiled bandages, exposing a myriad of shallow slices all over his forehead and left cheek.
"我很好，泰勒——你看上去怪嚇人的，你沒(méi)事兒吧?"我們說(shuō)話的時(shí)候，護(hù)士們開(kāi)始拆他頭上臟兮兮的繃帶，只見(jiàn)他的整個(gè)額頭和左邊的臉頰都劃上了無(wú)數(shù)道淺淺的傷痕。
He ignored me. "I thought I was going to kill you! I was going too fast, and I hit the ice wrong…" He winced as one nurse started dabbing at his face.
他沒(méi)理睬我的問(wèn)話。"我當(dāng)時(shí)以為會(huì)把你撞死了呢!我開(kāi)得太快了，又誤撞到了冰上……"護(hù)士開(kāi)始給他搽臉時(shí)，他疼得肌肉都抽搐了。
"Don't worry about it; you missed me."
"別擔(dān)心了，你沒(méi)撞著我。"
"How did you get out of the way so fast? You were there, and then you were gone…"
"你怎么會(huì)躲得那么快?你當(dāng)時(shí)站在那兒，眨眼就不見(jiàn)了……"
"Umm… Edward pulled me out of the way."
"唔……愛(ài)德華把我拉開(kāi)了。"
He looked confused. "Who?"
他一臉的茫然："誰(shuí)?"
"Edward Cullen — he was standing next to me." I'd always been a terrible liar; I didn't sound convincing at all.
"愛(ài)德華·卡倫——他當(dāng)時(shí)站在我身邊。"我總是不善于撒謊;聽(tīng)起來(lái)一點(diǎn)兒都不可信。
"Cullen? I didn't see him… wow, it was all so fast, I guess. Is he okay?"
"卡倫?我沒(méi)看見(jiàn)他呀……喔，我想可能實(shí)在是太快了。他沒(méi)事兒吧?"
"I think so. He's here somewhere, but they didn't make him use a stretcher."
"我想是這樣的。他在這兒某個(gè)地方，但他們沒(méi)有逼著他坐擔(dān)架床。"
I knew I wasn't crazy. What had happened? There was no way to explain away what I'd seen.
我知道我沒(méi)瘋。發(fā)生過(guò)什么事情呢?沒(méi)有辦法能解釋通我所見(jiàn)到的一切。
They wheeled me away then, to X-ray my head. I told them there was nothing wrong, and I was right. Not even a concussion. I asked if I could leave, but the nurse said I had to talk to a doctor first. So I was trapped in the ER, waiting, harassed by Tyler's constant apologies and promises to make it up to me. No matter how many times I tried to convince him I was fine, he continued to torment himself. Finally, I closed my eyes and ignored him. He kept up aremorseful mumbling.
這時(shí)他們把我推走了，去給我的頭部拍X光片。我告訴他們我什么問(wèn)題都沒(méi)有，結(jié)果還真讓我說(shuō)對(duì)了。連腦震蕩都沒(méi)有。我問(wèn)我是不是可以走了，可護(hù)士說(shuō)我得先找個(gè)大夫談?wù)?。于是我被關(guān)進(jìn)了急救室，等候著，泰勒沒(méi)完沒(méi)了地道歉，一遍遍地保證要彌補(bǔ)我受到的傷害，真讓我聽(tīng)得心煩。無(wú)論我跟他說(shuō)了多少次我沒(méi)事，他還是一個(gè)勁兒地折磨自己。最后，我閉上眼睛，懶得理睬他了。他還在那里咕咕噥噥地悔恨不已。
"Is she sleeping?" a musical voice asked. My eyes flew open.
"他睡著了嗎?"一個(gè)音樂(lè)般好聽(tīng)的聲音問(wèn)道。我猛地睜開(kāi)了眼睛。
Edward was standing at the foot of my bed, smirking. I glared at him. It wasn't easy — it would have been more natural to ogle.
愛(ài)德華站在我的床腳邊，懶洋洋地、略帶得意地傻笑著。我瞪了他一眼。朝他瞪眼可不是件容易事——或許拋個(gè)媚眼會(huì)來(lái)得更自然一些。
"Hey, Edward, I'm really sorry —" Tyler began.
"嘿，愛(ài)德華，我真是抱歉——"泰勒又開(kāi)腔了。
Edward lifted a hand to stop him.
愛(ài)德華抬起了一只手讓他別說(shuō)話。
"No blood, no foul," he said, flashing his brilliant teeth. He moved to sit on the edge of Tyler's bed, facing me. He smirked again.
"不流血，就不犯規(guī) ，"他說(shuō)，露了一下他那口閃亮的牙齒。他過(guò)去坐在了泰勒的床邊上，臉對(duì)著我。他又開(kāi)始露出那種讓我牙根癢癢的傻笑。
"So, what's the verdict?" he asked me.
"哦，診斷結(jié)果如何?"他問(wèn)我。
"There's nothing wrong with me at all, but they won't let me go," I complained. "How come you aren't strapped to a gurney like the rest of us?"
"我一點(diǎn)兒?jiǎn)栴}沒(méi)有，可他們不讓我走，"我抱怨道，"你怎么沒(méi)有像我們其他人一樣被綁在輪床上?"
"It's all about who you know," he answered. "But don't worry, I came to spring you."
"多虧你知道的那個(gè)人，"他回答說(shuō)，"不過(guò)別著急，我是來(lái)保釋你出院的。"
