But I'm sure, if you had asked her at the start of the week, "Could you find seven hours to train for a triathlon? Could you find 7 hours to mentor seven-worthy people?" I'm sure she would have said what most of us would have said, which is, "No. Can't you see how busy I am?" Yet, when she had to find 7 hours because there is water all over her basement, she found 7 hours. And what this shows us is that time is highly elastic.

We cannot make more time, but time will stretch to accommodate what we choose to put into it. So, the key to time management is treating our priorities as the equivalent of that broken water heater. There are 168 hours in a week. 24 times seven is 168 hours. That is a lot of time. If you are working a full-time job, so 40 hours a week, sleeping 8 hours a night, so 56 hours a week, that leaves 72 hours for other things. That is a lot of time.

我們不能創(chuàng)造更多的時(shí)間，但時(shí)間會(huì)隨著我們的選擇而變化。所以，時(shí)間管理的關(guān)鍵是把我們的優(yōu)先事項(xiàng)看作是壞掉的熱水器。一周有168個(gè)小時(shí)。24乘以7等于168小時(shí)。那是很長(zhǎng)的時(shí)間。如果你有一份全職工作，每周工作40個(gè)小時(shí)，每晚睡8個(gè)小時(shí)，每周工作56個(gè)小時(shí)，剩下72個(gè)小時(shí)可以做其他事情。那是很長(zhǎng)的時(shí)間。
