八、used to

1.肯定式

I used to like pop music.我過(guò)去喜歡流行音樂(lè)。（現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)不喜歡了）

We used to spend our vacations in the mountains.

我們從前在山區(qū)度假。（暗示現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)不在山上度假了）

2.否定式

I used not to like pop music.我過(guò)去不喜歡流行音樂(lè)。

I usedn’t to like pop music.

I didn’t use to like pop music.

3.疑問(wèn)式

Used you to like pop music？ 你過(guò)去喜歡流行音樂(lè)嗎？

Did you use to like pop music？

You used to go there，usedn’t you？ 你過(guò)去常到那兒去，是嗎？

you used to go There,didn’t you？

4.used to與would的區(qū)別

（1）used to 與would表示過(guò)去習(xí)慣性的動(dòng)作時(shí)，可互換。

When we were children we would/used to go skating every winter.

我們小時(shí)候，每年冬天都去溜冰。

He would/used to sit there for hours sometimes doing nothing at all.

有時(shí)他在那里一坐幾個(gè)鐘頭，什么也不做。

（2）若要強(qiáng)調(diào)過(guò)去與現(xiàn)在的對(duì)比時(shí)用used to。

I don’t smoke these days，but I used to.我現(xiàn)在不抽煙，但我以前是抽的。

I used to drive to work but now I cycle.過(guò)去我常開(kāi)車上班，但我現(xiàn)在騎自行車。

【比較】

①People used to believe that the earth was flat.

過(guò)去，人們以為地球是扁平的。（現(xiàn)在已不再這樣認(rèn)為）

②He would go to the park as soon as he was free.

過(guò)去，他一有空就去公園。（現(xiàn)在有可能還去）

5.used to do，be used to 與be used to do的區(qū)別

（1）used to do 表示“過(guò)去常常”，現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)不那樣了。

He used to be a teacher in our school.他曾經(jīng)是我們學(xué)校的一位老師。

There used to be an old temple near the village.過(guò)去村子的附近有一座古廟。

（2）be used to （doing）sth.表示“習(xí)慣于做某事”。

He is used to hard work.他習(xí)慣于艱苦工作。

He is used to living in the country.他已習(xí)慣于住在鄉(xiāng)下。

I’ve got used to being a vegetarian.我已經(jīng)習(xí)慣吃素食。

【提示】 be used to中be可用get，become替換，其中to是介詞，后接名詞、代詞或動(dòng)名詞。

（3）be used to do表示“被用于做某事”。

Bamboo can be used to make a lot of things.竹子能被用來(lái)制成很多東西。

A hammer is used to drive in nails.錘子是用來(lái)釘釘子的。
