四、dare

1.情態(tài)動(dòng)詞dare的用法

（1）后接動(dòng)詞原形，意為“敢，敢于”。

He dare not go there.他不敢去那里。

How dare you speak to him like that？ 你怎么敢對(duì)他那樣講話？

（2）dare可以有過(guò)去式dared，但也可用“dare+have done”表示過(guò)去式。

That was why he dared do so.那就是他為什么敢這樣做的原因。

I daren’t have done it yesterday，but I think I dare now.

昨天我沒(méi)敢這樣做，但現(xiàn)在我想我敢。

（3）dare通常用于疑問(wèn)句、否定句、條件句、whether （if）從句。

Dare you tell her the truth？ 你敢告訴她事實(shí)真相嗎？

I won’t let him go even if he dare （go）.即使他敢去，我也不讓他去。

It’s hard to tell whether/if he dare try.他敢不敢試一試，這就很難說(shuō)了。

We’re so late that I daren’t look at my watch.我們太遲了，我連手表都不敢看一眼。

2.實(shí)義動(dòng)詞dare的用法

（1）有人稱(chēng)和數(shù)的變化，意為“敢于”，可接動(dòng)詞不定式。

Brave men dare great dangers.勇敢的人敢冒巨大的危險(xiǎn)。

He didn’t dare to speak to her.他不敢和她說(shuō)話。

Who dares to speak for the people？ 誰(shuí)敢為人民說(shuō)話呢？

I wonder how he dares to say such things.我納悶他怎么竟敢說(shuō)出這樣的話來(lái)。

（2）“dare sb.to do sth.”，意為”教唆某人做某事”，“激某人做某事”。

I dare you to jump over the stream.我諒你不敢跳過(guò)這條小河。

She dared him to dive after her.她激將他跟著她跳水。

（3）dare的非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞形式

The boy stood before the teacher，not daring to look up.

小男孩站在老師面前不敢抬頭。（dare的現(xiàn)在分詞形式作伴隨狀語(yǔ)）

She waved her fist at him，daring him to come any closer.

她向他揮舞著拳頭，看他還有沒(méi)有膽量再靠近她。（dare的現(xiàn)在分詞形式作伴隨狀語(yǔ)）

He was under attack for daring to criticize the Prime Minister.

他竟敢批評(píng)總理，因而遭到攻擊。（dare的動(dòng)名詞形式作介詞賓語(yǔ)）

②Do you dare to jump from the wall？ 你敢從那座高墻跳下來(lái)嗎？（實(shí)義動(dòng)詞）

3.dare的特殊句式

（1）I dare say用于肯定句，表示一種不肯定的語(yǔ)氣，意為“很可能；大概；我想”。

He is not here yet，but I dare say he will come later.他尚未來(lái)此，但我認(rèn)為他等一會(huì)兒就來(lái)。

You are tired，I dare say.我想你或許累了。

（2）How dare sb....？ 表示說(shuō)話人對(duì)某人的行為表示憤慨和譴責(zé)。

How dare you ask me such a question？ 你怎敢問(wèn)我這樣的問(wèn)題？

How dare he tell me what to do！ 他竟然教訓(xùn)我該怎么做！
