　　第二十一章 誠(chéng)意--至誠(chéng)可參天地

　　唯天下至誠(chéng)，為能盡其性;能盡其性;則能盡人之性;能盡人之性，則能盡物之性;能盡物之性，則可以贊天地之化育;可以贊天地之化育，則可以與天地參矣。

　　It is only he who is possessed of the most complete sincerity that can exist under heaven, who can give its fun development to his nature. Able to give its full development to his own nature, he can do the same to the nature of other men. Able to give its full development to the nature of other men, he can give their full development to the natures of animals and things. Able to give their full development to the natures of creatures and things, he can assist the transforming and nourishing powers of Heaven and Earth. 　　唯天下至誠(chéng)，為能盡其性(1);能盡其性，則能盡人之性;能盡 人之性，則能盡物之性;能盡物之性，則可以贊大地之化育(2);可 以贊天地之化育，則可以與天地參矣(3).

　　(1)盡其性：充分發(fā)揮本性。 (2)贊：贊助?；夯宛B(yǎng)育。 (3)參天地：與天地并列力三。參，并列。

　　【譯文】

　　只有天下極端真誠(chéng)的人能充分發(fā)揮他的本性;能充分發(fā)揮他的本性，就能充分發(fā)揮眾人的本性;能充分發(fā)揮眾人的本性，就能充分發(fā)揮萬(wàn)物的本性;能充分發(fā)揮萬(wàn)物的本性，就可以幫助天地培育生命;能幫助大地培育生命，就可以與天地并列為三了。

　　【讀解】

　　真誠(chéng)者只有首先對(duì)自己真誠(chéng)，然后才能對(duì)全人類真誠(chéng)。真誠(chéng)可使自己立于與天地并列為三的不朽地位。它的功用居然有如此之大，那我們又何樂(lè)而不為呢。
