Peking University is one of the earliest and most famous universities in China, which enjoys a great reputation at home and abroad. It has been a leading institution of higher education in China since its establishment. To a great degree, Peaking University is the symbol of China's modernization and renaissance. May Fourth Movement and New Culture Movement were both successfully carried out under the leadership of Peking University.
