1. 春節(jié)的來歷

The legend of the Chinese New Year began in a small village thousands of years ago. Each winter a monster named Nian would enter the village and attack the villagers. The villagers were scared. They didn't know what to do. Afterwards a wise old man came up with an idea. The next time Nian appeared the people used fireworks and drums to make a lot of noises. Sure enough, these noises scared the monster away and it fled into the hills. The villagers celebrated the day when they freed themselves from the monster. Each year they would light the fireworks and celebrate their victory. This day became the start of the Chinese new year.

中國新年的傳說源于數(shù)千年前的一個(gè)小村莊。每年冬天，一個(gè)叫“年”的怪獸都會(huì)進(jìn)村子攻擊村民。村民們十分害怕，不知該怎么辦。后來，一位年長的智者想出了一個(gè)辦法。當(dāng)“年”再一次出現(xiàn)時(shí)，人們就用鞭炮（firework）和鼓制造大量噪音。這些噪音果然把“年”給嚇跑了，“年”躲進(jìn)了山里。村民們?cè)谶@天慶祝他們擺脫了怪獸。每年他們都會(huì)點(diǎn)燃鞭炮慶祝他們的勝利。這一天便成了中國新年的開始。
