我所謂“準確”大略相當于嚴復的“信”。嚴夫子說：“求其信而大難矣”。我說:“信則萬事畢矣”。準確有很多方面的含義。首先是意義的準確，這似乎無庸贅言。但是，詩與散文不同，它的內(nèi)容與形式是有機地統(tǒng)一的，換句話說，即詩的意義至少部分是體現(xiàn)在形式之中的。所以，翻譯散文可以“得意而忘言”，譯詩則不可以。
