1. make an effort: 做出努力

2. Go ahead: 往下說，也可以指“去做吧”

3. schmuck: （美俚）笨人

例如：Before long, she realized she had married a real schmuck.（沒多久，她就發(fā)現(xiàn)她嫁了一個地道的討厭鬼。）

4. have a hard time: 非常艱辛，處境困難，這里是說“不是每個人都那么容易流露真情的”。

5. low blow: 卑鄙勾當

7. trophy: 戰(zhàn)利品，勝利紀念品，獎品

例如：In his athletic career he won three cups and many other trophies.（在他的運動生涯中，他獲得三個獎杯和許多其他獎品。）

8. kiddo: 孩子，老兄，老姐，一種親昵的稱呼

9. distance: 使疏遠[(+from)]

例如：Lately she has seemed to distance herself from me.（她近來似乎在疏遠我。）
