《增廣賢文》。又名《昔時賢文》《古今賢文》，是中國明代時期編寫的道家兒童啟蒙書目。書名最早見之于明萬歷年間的戲曲《牡丹亭》，據(jù)此可推知此書最遲寫成于萬歷年間。《增廣賢文》集結(jié)中國從古到今的各種格言、諺語。后來，經(jīng)過明、清兩代文人的不斷增補(bǔ)，才改成現(xiàn)在這個模樣，稱《增廣昔時賢文》，通稱《增廣賢文》。

受享過分，
必生災(zāi)害之端；
舉動異常，
每為不祥之兆。
救既敗之事，
如馭臨巖之馬，
休輕加一鞭；
圖垂成之功，
如挽上灘之舟，
莫稍停一棹。
窗前一片浮青映白，
悟入處，
盡是禪機(jī)；
階下幾點(diǎn)飛翠落紅，
收拾來，
無非詩料。

Too much enjoyment brews a disaster,
Abnormal acts forebode something unlucky.
To accomplish things on the verge of success
Is like driving a boat upstream,
Do not spare even one oar;
To save things on the verge of failure
Is like controlling a horse
On the edge of a cliff,
Do not exert even one whip.
If you comprehend
A lake out of your window reflecting the sky,
It can lead you to an understanding of Buddhism;
If you notice
Several fallen leaves and flowers on your steps,
It can provide you with material for poetry.
