《普天樂》寫的是清秋時候江邊晚景。稻谷已經(jīng)收割，水邊的菰和蒲正是秀美之時。山光與暮色相凝相聚，江水倒影中蘊含著秋的神韻。江潮平靜，顯得秋水寬闊；秋空遼遠空曠，反襯得孤帆更加瘦小。雁陣為秋寒所驚，穿過山邊薄云，落在江邊沙灘上。紅日西沉，秋風吹拂著渡口，主人公凝目癡望，無盡的詩思與情愁在心中郁積。這篇寫景之作，意境遼遠，境界開闊，字里行間滲透著作者漂泊異鄉(xiāng)的無限憂思。鍛字鑄句尤有功力，如“孤帆瘦”的“瘦”字，既寫帆小，又是詩人自身心理憂傷的投射。

Swans on the Shoal
To the Tune of Jubilation All over the World
Xianyu Biren
At the time of autumn harvest,
Wild rice and mace are elegant.
Beautiful mountains and rivers,
Tinged with autumn colours.
The vast expanse of calm water,
The solitary sail is getting smaller.
Cries come with swans sailing across the sky,
Circling before landing on the shoal by river side.
West wind past the ferry crossing,
On the river bank the sun’s setting,
But the poet’s sorrow has no ending.
