譚嗣同（1865年3月10日—1898年9月28日），字復生，號壯飛，湖南瀏陽人，中國近代著名政治家、思想家，維新派人士。其所著的《仁學》，是維新派的第一部哲學著作，也是中國近代思想史中的重要著作。譚嗣同早年曾在家鄉(xiāng)湖南倡辦時務學堂、南學會等，主辦《湘報》，又倡導開礦山、修鐵路，宣傳變法維新，推行新政。1898年（光緒二十四年），譚嗣同參加領導戊戌變法，失敗后被殺，年僅33歲，為“戊戌六君子”之一。

夕陽戀高樹，薄暮入青峰。
古寺云依鶴，空潭月照龍。
塵消百尺瀑，心斷一聲鐘。
禪意渺何著，啾啾階下蛩。

A setting sun lingers lovingly among all trees,
As dusk disappears into the blue peaks.
At the ancient monastery, clouds hover among cranes;
Above an empty pool. the moon shines on dragons.
Dust dissolves—by a ten-fathom waterfall;
My thoughts break off—at the single note of a bell.
The profound mind of Ch'an, where is it found?
