The stars of last night, the breeze of last night,
West of the Painted Bower, east of the Osmanthus Hall.
We can't fly wing to wing like a pair of phoenixes,
Yet our hearts closely linked beat in harmony.
Maybe you're gaming over a cup of warm spring wine,
Or perhaps betting with friends in the red candlelight.
Alas! The drumbeat at dawn calls me to my duties,
I must ride to the Royal Secretariat like a tumbleweed adrift.
