8. Put Down My Shepherd Dog

Man walking along a road in the countryside comes across a shepherd and a huge flock of

Wait, cries the shepherd, "Let me have a chance to get even 【6】 . Double or nothing that I can guess your exact occupation 【7】 ." Man says sure. "You are a quantitative economist for a government think tank 【8】 ," says the shepherd. "Amazing!" responds the man, "You are exactly right! But tell me, how did you deduce that?"

Well, says the shepherd, "put down 【9】 my shepherd dog and I will tell you."

·本笑話諷刺數(shù)量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家（也就是計量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家）關(guān)心數(shù)據(jù)多少勝過關(guān)心數(shù)據(jù)內(nèi)容，且最后得到的數(shù)據(jù)只是一個估計數(shù)據(jù)而非真實數(shù)據(jù)。數(shù)量經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家分析經(jīng)濟(jì)問題的步驟一般是先建立模型，然后根據(jù)實際數(shù)據(jù)估計模型參數(shù)，最后根據(jù)估計出來的參數(shù)進(jìn)行預(yù)測，所以最后得到的預(yù)測值一定是個隨機(jī)變量。
