When it comes to the term “Korean Wave”, we’re not just talking about South Korean romantic TV series. The impact of the country’s music industry, known as K-pop, is also expanding.

寶兒

The 27-year-old singer, whose full name is Kwon Boa(權(quán)寶兒), deserves to be named “Queen of K-pop” for many reasons, including her singing talent, beauty, fame, and her dedication to the music world.

歌手寶兒全名為權(quán)寶兒。27歲的她憑借歌唱天賦、姣好面容、超高人氣以及對于音樂的忘我投入，無愧于“韓國樂壇天后”這個美譽。

Debuted at the young age of 13, BoA has managed to achieve great success in South Korea, Japan, China and the US. According to Oricon, a provider of music industry statistics in Japan, BoA holds the record as the only foreign artist who has sold more than 1 million albums in Japan.

13歲出道的寶兒已經(jīng)在中、日、韓、美四國取得巨大成功。據(jù)日本音樂調(diào)查公司日本公信榜數(shù)據(jù)顯示，寶兒是首個在日本創(chuàng)造百萬唱片銷量的外國歌手。

Over the past two years, BoA has refocused her career in K-pop. In July 2012, she released Only One, her first Korean album in two years. And from January to April 2013, she went on her first tour of South Korea.

G-Dragon

The frontman of popular South Korean group Big Bang is many things: singer, songwriter, dancer and, of course, fashion icon. For the 25-year-old (birth name Kwon Ji-yong) 2013 was certainly an unforgettable year. It proved he is currently one of the hottest artists in the K-Pop scene.

作為韓國人氣團體Big Bang的主唱， G-Dragon(本名：權(quán)志龍)不僅集歌手、歌曲作家、舞者于一身，還是個不折不扣的時尚偶像。對于25歲的他而言，2013年無疑是令他難忘的一年。事實證明，他是當今韓國樂壇最炙手可熱的藝人之一。

In September, G-Dragon released his solo album Coup d’Etat, which debuted at No 182 on the US’ Billboard 200 chart. In November, he won Artist of the Year at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Awards, one of the major K-pop music award ceremonies. He is the first solo artist to have won the title.

2013年9月，權(quán)志龍發(fā)行了個人專輯《Coup d’Etat》，并首次登上美國公告牌200強榜單，名列第182位。同年11月，他在韓國樂壇重量級頒獎禮之一的第15屆Mnet亞洲音樂盛典上榮獲“年度最佳歌手”大獎，成為首個獲得該獎項的獨唱藝人。

His collaborations with big international artists have helped his growing global influence. For example, in the album Coup d’Etat, he worked with Sky Ferreira and Missy Elliott. He has also recorded a yet unreleased song with Justin Bieber.

Exo

韓國偶像組合EXO

The boy band came back onto many people’s radars in 2013, after releasing their first studio album XOXO in June. Originally debuted as two separate groups, Exo-K and Exo-M (the former sings in Korean and the latter in Chinese), the group joined forces to promote the album.

2013年6月，韓國男子組合EXO發(fā)行了首張錄音室專輯《XOXO》，再度為人們所關(guān)注。EXO出道時分為兩個不同的團體：Exo-K(主打韓國市場)和Exo-M(主打中國市場)。之后，兩個團體一起協(xié)力推廣這一專輯。

At the 2013 Melon Music Awards, South Korea’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, Exo won Song of the Year and Netizen Popularity Award for hit single Growl. They were also included in the Top 10 Artists awards, alongside G-Dragon and others.

2013年，在有“韓國格萊美”之稱的Melon音樂頒獎典禮上，EXO憑借熱門單曲《Growl》斬獲“年度最佳歌曲”及“網(wǎng)絡(luò)人氣獎”兩項殊榮。此外，他們還同權(quán)志龍及其他藝人一起榮獲“年度十大藝人”稱號。
