Bali Botanic Garden is the largest botanic garden in Indonesia that houses the island's huge collection of wild orchids and welcomes more than half a million visitors each year.

Nestled in the cool, refreshing Bedugul mountains of central Bali, the 157-hectare Bali Botanic garden is easily accessible during the day, about a 90-minute drive north of Denpasar city. The vast peaceful garden is a combination of green spaces, ornamental gardens, a unique collection of plants and the tropical forest located on the misty slopes of Tapak Hill. The garden was established on July 15, 1959 and is located about 1300 meters above sea level, overlooking Lake Bratan and the Ulun Danu Temple on the Tapak hillside.

The garden is a unique site on the island of Bali. It combines botanical research, plant conservation, education and entertainment. The botany collections found in the Bali Botanic garden are ferns and mosses, orchids, sea lanes, cacti, medicinal plants, plants as materials for Hindu rituals of Bali, aquatic plants, bamboos, rhododendrons, lilies, and herbs. Also, there are more than 79 species of wild birds here.

More than 2,000 plant species are preserved in this giant garden, including plants from the mountains of eastern Indonesia: Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. New plants are purchased from commercial nurseries, other botanical gardens, plant breeding programs and plant collection expeditions.

Bali Treetop Adventure Park: For a more dynamic and enjoyable experience, you can visit Bali Treetop Adventure Park located in the Bali Botanic Garden. You can explore the mountains and tropical forests. Swinging from tree to tree is one of the six fun experiences in the area. Passing glides, bridges, swings, ropes, you will become a real Tazan here. Each activity is tailored for each age group so you will be able to decide what to play. In the park, all the tree networks have sightseeing cables for you to relax and experience the environment.

Cactus Greenhouse: One hundred species of cacti are placed in the cactus greenhouse. Cacti is the largest group of succulent plants in the world that include nearly 2,000 species in the hot desert regions of the US, although cacti can still grow and thrive in areas with cool weather like Bali Botanic garden. Some species can even reach a height of more than five meters.

The greenhouse is home to a species of sugarcane orchid that can reach over seven meters tall and is considered the largest orchid species in the world. It is endemic to Indonesia and prefers dry conditions, which is why it is placed on rockery in a greenhouse. It only flowers under certain conditions and is so named due to its resemblance to sugarcane.

The daytime temperature is about 17-25 degrees Celsius, while at night it is 10 - 15 degrees, with humidity of 70 - 90%. The climate is cool with 3,000mm of annual rainfall, fresh air and beautiful scenery, all in harmony that makes this garden a famous spot on the south side of Bali.
