北京園藝博覽會(huì)上最美麗的植物

In the last episode of Fantastic Plants, we watched some plants with secret techniques, including Poison Arrow Tree and Miracle Berry. In this episode, we are going to check out some of the most beautiful plants in the Beijing Horticultural Expo.

Golden Lotus Banana

金蓮花香蕉

Golden lotus banana, also known as Chinese yellow banana, is a close relative of bananas.

金蓮花香蕉，又稱中國(guó)黃香蕉，是香蕉的近親。

The plant is native to the Yunnan province in China, where it grows high in the mountains to an altitude of 2,500m. The flowering period lasts as long as half a year.

這種植物原產(chǎn)于中國(guó)云南省，生長(zhǎng)在海拔2500米的高山上。花期長(zhǎng)達(dá)半年。

As one of the "five trees and six flowers" in Buddhist temples, the plant is also the embodiment of goodness in Dai people's literature.

作為佛教寺院中的“五樹(shù)六花”之一，它也是傣族文學(xué)中善的體現(xiàn)。

Locals in Yunnan also use it for detoxification.

云南當(dāng)?shù)厝艘灿盟鼇?lái)解毒。

Variegated Madras Thorn

斑駁的馬德拉斯刺

The foliage shrub has cow hoof-shaped leaves in a blended color of pink, white and green. It can let out a unique fragrance during the flowering period which attracts scarab beetles.

葉灌木有牛蹄狀的葉子，混合了粉紅色、白色和綠色。它能在花期散發(fā)出獨(dú)特的香味，吸引金龜子。

The plant loves strong sunlight but can also thrive under shade. There will be more white leaves if there is not enough sunlight. Delicate as it looks, it can survive in dry climates and on coastlines as it is drought- and salt-tolerant.

這種植物喜歡強(qiáng)烈的陽(yáng)光，但也能在陰涼處茁壯成長(zhǎng)。如果沒(méi)有足夠的陽(yáng)光，會(huì)有更多的白色葉子。盡管它看起來(lái)很嬌嫩，但它能在干旱的氣候和耐干旱耐鹽的海岸線上生存。

It is now being cultivated in Yunnan, Hainan and Guangdong provinces in China as an ornamental plant.

目前已在云南、海南和廣東等地作為觀賞植物栽培。

Canary Island Date Palm

加那利島棗椰樹(shù)

The Canary Island date palm is found in the Mediterranean regions and in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world.

加那利島棗椰樹(shù)生長(zhǎng)在地中海地區(qū)以及世界上的熱帶和亞熱帶地區(qū)。

The Canary Island date palm belongs to the palm family. The difference between it and other palms is its extraordinary ability to withstand cold weather, hence it can be cultivated both in the tropics and in high-latitude oceanic climates.

加那利島棗椰樹(shù)屬于棕櫚科。它和其他棕櫚樹(shù)的不同之處在于它非凡的耐寒能力，因此它可以在熱帶和高緯度海洋氣候下種植。

The Beijing Horticultural Expo 2019 serves as a perfectly good opportunity to exhibit over 1,000 plant species, most of which are from the tropical area. This three-episode program has selected some of the plants presented in the newly built Plant Pavilion with the most distinctive characters that are rarely noticed or even heard of by the common people.

2019年北京園藝博覽會(huì)是展示1000多種植物的絕佳機(jī)會(huì)，其中大部分來(lái)自熱帶地區(qū)。在這三集的節(jié)目中，我們挑選了一些在新建的植物館中展出的最具特色的植物，這些植物是普通人很少注意到的，甚至是聞所未聞的。
