A: I've heard of ground-level ozone but can you explain what it is exactly?

A:我聽(tīng)說(shuō)近地面臭氧，但是你能確切解釋一下是什么嗎？

B:Yes, it's one of the main air pollutants. Factories don't emit it directly into the air.

B:是，它一個(gè)主要的空氣污染物。工廠不把它直接排到大氣中。

It's actually formed when nitrogen oxides and VOC emissions come into contact with heat and sunlight.

它實(shí)際會(huì)形成一氧化氮，而且它在與光和熱的接觸下會(huì)釋放出VOC。

A: Sorry? What does VOC stand for?

A:對(duì)不起？VOC代表什么？

B: Oh, VOCs are 'volatile organic compounds'. That's a technical term for solvents or other chemicals found in things like paint.

B:哦,VOCs是揮發(fā)性有機(jī)混合物。這是溶劑方面的一個(gè)專業(yè)術(shù)語(yǔ)，其它的化工品像油漆等也有這種物質(zhì)。

A: So, what damage does ozone do to the environment?

B: Well, it can cause smog, which can affect people's health - especially people with breathing difficulties.

B:哦，臭氧會(huì)引起濃霧,影響人們健康，特別是會(huì)讓人感到呼吸困難。
