There were three engineers riding along in a car.

They were an electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer and a computer engineer.

Suddenly， the car broke down.

The electrical engineer said, "Maybe it's a dead battery."

The mechanical engineer said，"Maybe the fan belt broke."

The computer engineer said，"Let's close all the windows，open them again，and see if that fixes it."

Notes:

1.There were three engineers riding along in a car.

有3個工程師坐在一輛汽車里。

"ride"可以表示“騎(機動車、自行車)”或“騎馬”,也可以表示“搭乘(交通工具)。這里的along不要和alone(單獨地)弄混了，兩者發(fā)音、字形相似，但意思完全不同。

2.They were an electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer and a computer engineer.

他們一個是電機工程師，一個是機械工程師、還有一個是電腦工程師，

electrical [??lektr?kl] adj. 有關電氣的

mechanical [m??kæn?kl] adj. 機械的

3.Suddenly, the car broke down.

突然，車子拋錨了。

4.The electrical engineer said, "Maybe it's a dead battery."

電機工程師說：“也許是電池沒電了。”

maybe和perhaps都是表示“可能;也許”，但是一般日常生活口語中多用前者，正式場合或書面用語則應使用后者。它們通常都放在句首。

6.The computer engineer said，"Let's close all the windows，open them again，and see if that fixes it."

電腦工程師說：“我們關掉所有的窗戶，再打開，看看是否能修好它。”

每當電腦死機或有異常時，通常會關掉所有的視窗 (windows)或重新啟動.電腦工程師也用相同的模式來處理他所面臨的問題。殊不知，此windows非彼windows。
