愛麗絲的晚餐

Far down in the valley the wheat grows deep,

山谷深處，小麥成熟了。

And the reapers are making the cradles sweep;

農(nóng)民們正在收割糧食。

And this is the song that I hear them sing,

當(dāng)愉快而響亮的聲音想起時(shí)，

While cheery and loud their voices ring:

我聽到他們唱著這首歌曲：

"'Tis the finest wheat that ever did grow!

這是我們種過的最優(yōu)質(zhì)的小麥！

And it is for Alice's supper--ho! ho!"

我們用它作為愛麗絲的晚餐！嘿嘿！”

far down by the river the old mill stands,

遙遠(yuǎn)的河邊，有一座磨坊，

And the miller is rubbing his dusty hands;

磨坊主正轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)布滿塵土的齒輪。

And these are the words of the miller's lay,

當(dāng)他看到磨石轉(zhuǎn)動(dòng)的時(shí)候，

As he watches the millstones grinding away:

磨坊主說出了這樣的話：

This the finest flour that money can buy,

“這是用錢可以買到的最優(yōu)質(zhì)的面粉，

And it is for Alice's supper--hi! hi!"

Downstairs in the kitchen the fire doth glow,

樓下的廚房，生起了火，

And cook is a-kneading the soft, white dough;

廚師正把面粉揉成雪白柔軟的面團(tuán)。

And this is the song she is singing to-day,

當(dāng)她快樂而忙碌地工作時(shí)，

As merry and busy she's working away:

今天她唱出了這樣的歌：

"'Tis the finest dough, whether near or afar,

“這是世界上最好吃的布丁，

And it is for Alice's supper--ha! ha!"

我們用它作為愛麗絲的晚餐！嘿嘿！”

To the nursery now comes mother, at last,

現(xiàn)在媽媽來到了幼兒園，

And what in her hand is she bringing so fast?

她手上端著的是什么？

'Tis a plateful of something, all yellow and white,

這盤東西白黃相間，

And she sings as she comes, with her smile so bright:

進(jìn)來時(shí)，她滿臉微笑地唱道：

"'Tis the best bread and butter I ever did see,

“這是我見過的最棒的面包，

And it is for Alice's supper--he! he!"

用作愛麗絲的晚餐！嘿嘿！”
