29 THE BROOK	二十九小溪

I come from haunts of coot and hern,	我來(lái)自骨頂雞和蒼鷺的老巢，
I make a sudden sally,	我突然迸涌而出，
And sparkle out among the fern,	從蕨叢中來(lái)，我晶瑩閃耀，
To bicker down a valley.	急急地沖向山谷。

But I go on for ever.	我卻永遠(yuǎn)奔前方。
I chatter over stony ways,	在青石道上我潺潺流過(guò)，
In little sharps and trebles,	一路上錚錚淙淙，
I bubble into eddying bays,	汨汨地卷入山凹的漩渦，
I babble on the pebbles.	絮語(yǔ)在卵石叢中。
With many a curve my banks I fret	我七拐八彎，沖刷著堤岸，
By many a field and fallow,	流過(guò)閑地和農(nóng)田，
And many a fairy foreland set	我讓柳蘭和錦葵裝點(diǎn)
With willow-weed and mallow.	仙境一般的岸沿。
I chatter, chatter as I flow	潺潺地，潺潺地不斷流淌，

I wind about, and in and out,	我百轉(zhuǎn)千回，進(jìn)山出穴，
With here a blossom sailing,	有時(shí)候載落花遠(yuǎn)航，
And here and there a lusty trout,	我懷里處處有鱒魚(yú)活躍，
And here and there a grayling,	有茴魚(yú)悠然來(lái)往，
And here and there a foamy flake	我漫游前進(jìn)，這里那里
Upon me, as I travel	激濺起飛沫似雪，
With many a silvery waterbreak	我縱身躍過(guò)金色的砂礫，
Above the golden gravel,	讓朵朵銀浪碎裂，

I steal by lawns and grassy plots,	我流過(guò)如茵的草坪悄悄，

I move the sweet forget-me-nots	我漂來(lái)甜蜜的勿忘我草，
That grow for happy lovers,	送到戀人們手中。
I slip, I slide, I gloom, I glance,	我滑行，流漾，我朦朧，閃亮，
Among my skimming swallows;	任燕子飛掠水面，
I make the netted sunbeam dance	我教如網(wǎng)的陽(yáng)光跳蕩，
Against my sandy shallows.	射向沙洲淺灘。
I murmur under moon and stars	我披著月色和星光低語(yǔ)
n brambly wildernesses;	在荊棘叢生的大荒;
I linger by my shingly bars;	到卵石灘前我徘徊不去;
I loiter round my cresses;	環(huán)抱著水芹倘佯;
