　　hold off 延期，推遲

　　主要用作“推遲”，“延期”等，推遲的對(duì)象可以在 hold off 后面用 on sth 或 ( on ) ... ing 來(lái)表示。另外，還具有“阻擋某人”，“使對(duì)方無(wú)法靠近”，“（雨等）不下”的意思。

　　例句：

　　I'll hold off until Monday to report to the boss.

　　我要將匯報(bào)的事情推遲到星期一。

　　Can you just hold off for a second?

　　你能推遲一會(huì)嗎？

　　I can't hold off on talking to him anymore.
