foot 指的是 “底部”，也就是賬單的底部總額，因為賬單上的總金額通常都是列在最下面。foot the bill 原本是指：檢查賬單上的金額是否正確。后來才慢慢變成 “付款、買單、結賬、承擔費用、負擔費用”的意思。
