foot 指的是 “底部”，也就是賬單的底部總額，因?yàn)橘~單上的總金額通常都是列在最下面。foot the bill 原本是指：檢查賬單上的金額是否正確。后來(lái)才慢慢變成 “付款、買單、結(jié)賬、承擔(dān)費(fèi)用、負(fù)擔(dān)費(fèi)用”的意思。
