炎炎夏日又雙叒叕來(lái)了

大太陽(yáng)掛在頭頂上

小編剛買(mǎi)的冰淇凌也被融化了

一提起夏天小編就想到一個(gè)字“曬”

那么英文中怎么表達(dá)“好曬”呢?

“曬”這個(gè)字在英文中可以解釋成:

① (of the sun) to shine on (指太陽(yáng))照耀;

② to bask in (the sunshine) 沐浴在(陽(yáng)光下);

③ to dry (clothes, grain etc) in the sun 在陽(yáng)光下曬(衣服、谷物等);

④ (fig.) to expose and share (one's experiences and thoughts) on the Web (loanword from "share") 在網(wǎng)上展示和分享(某人的經(jīng)驗(yàn)和想法);

It’s scorching today.

Scorch is a verb that means to burn something with fire. It makes sense that days where the sun feels extremely hot, it can be described as a scorching day.

Scorch是一個(gè)動(dòng)詞,意思是用火焚燒某物。陽(yáng)光熾熱的日子可以被描述為scorching day,就好像會(huì)燒起來(lái)一樣。

也可以用我們更熟悉的 burn,就是字面的意思,皮膚被曬得好像著火了,并且造成了實(shí)際的傷害,“曬傷”了。

例:

Fair-skinned people burn easily in the sun.

白皮膚的人很容易曬傷。

皮膚曬黑這個(gè)過(guò)程叫作 tan /tæn/

英文釋義:

to become brown, or to make someone's body or skin, etc. brown, from being in the sun

曬成棕褐色的膚色

例:

Her skin tans very quickly in the summer.

她的皮膚在夏天很容易曬黑。

更多描述灼熱天氣的表達(dá)

Dog Days of Summer:

This phrase refers to the weeks between late July and late August. In many parts of the country, temperatures are highest this time of year.

這個(gè)短語(yǔ)指的是7月下旬到8月下旬之間的那幾周。在許多國(guó)家,每年這個(gè)時(shí)候氣溫是最高的。

It’s boiling outside!:

When water reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit, it begins to boil. While the weather outside never actually reaches that temperature, it can sure feel like it some days!

當(dāng)水達(dá)到華氏212度時(shí),它開(kāi)始沸騰。雖然外面的天氣從來(lái)沒(méi)有達(dá)到那個(gè)溫度,但總有那么幾天你會(huì)覺(jué)得是這樣的!

Heatwave:

Different parts of the United States define heatwaves differently. In most places, if the temperature has been at or above 90 Fahrenheit for at least two or three days in a row, it is considered a heatwave. If the weather forecast predicts a heatwave, take it easy and drink plenty of water.

美國(guó)不同地區(qū)對(duì)heatwave的定義不同。在大多數(shù)地方,如果溫度連續(xù)至少兩三天在90華氏度(大約32攝氏度)以上,就被認(rèn)為是heatwave。如果天氣預(yù)報(bào)說(shuō)有熱浪,請(qǐng)放松,多喝水。

This weather is hot as hell/an oven:

In this idiom, it has a similar meaning to hell.

在這個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)中,它的意思是炎熱的天氣和地獄/烤箱相似。

好啦,今天的小知識(shí)點(diǎn),你學(xué)會(huì)了嘛?
