外國人跟你說“ Where was I ”，可不是問你“我在哪里”！

看到里面的人說

“Where was I”

還以為是要上演

我是誰，我在哪的失憶戲碼

后來一看字幕才明白

盡管這句話是用“where”提問的

但它所問的

和地點完全無關(guān)

而是一句地道的習慣性問句

“我剛剛講到哪兒了?”

(Now)where was I?

What was I talking about? Where did I leave off? (Said after an interruption of some sort.)

我剛才在說什么?我說到哪里了?(因為某些情況被打斷后會說的話)

就比如Sex Education Season 2 Episode 6中，媽媽在給女兒讀書，拿起書來記不起來上次讀到哪里了，于是說道：

The word where rhymes with care, fair, and stare.

It is pronounced exactly the same as the word wear (as in wear clothes).

WERE如何發(fā)音

The word were rhymes with sir and fur.

It’s the same sound as in the word bird.

The word we’re is short for “we are.”

You can pronounce it with an eer sound as in beer and fear:

However, when speaking fast, we often pronounce it more like were:
