說事物微小，中國人常常會用蘇軾“滄海之一粟”這個比喻。英語也有一個差不多的比喻：a drop in the ocean/bucket(滄海/水桶中的一滴水)。這個英文成語出自《圣經(jīng)·以塞亞書》。先知以塞亞在書中說，和偉大的上帝相比，人間萬國都顯得微不足道了：Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance(看哪，天下萬國就像桶里的一滴水，又像天平上的微塵)。有些人覺得水桶還不能充分襯托出一滴水的渺小，于是把bucket改為ocean(滄海)，意思是沒有分別的?，F(xiàn)在，說事物微小，或小得無濟于事，我們就可以用a drop in the ocean/bucket
