“wear two hats”是“戴兩頂帽子”？

字面意思上看就是

“戴兩頂帽子”，

但其實hat還有一個引申義

hat

used to refer to one of the various jobs or responsibilities that someone has

職位，職責

我這是以經(jīng)理的身份在講話。

比如說wear the hats of director and actress就是身兼導演和女主角兩職。所以，wear two hats的意思就是“身兼兩職”

由此我們拓展幾個短語：

wear another hat 做另一份工作

wear more than one hat 身兼不止一個職位

wear many hats 身兼數(shù)職

wear the trousers

(especially of a woman) to be the person in a relationship who is in control and who makes decisions for both people

(尤指女性)掌權(quán)當家，占主導地位，在一段關系中能掌控一切或者有決定權(quán)(常被用來泛指有決定權(quán)或最后的發(fā)言權(quán))。

-In China men usually wear the trousers at home.

在中國，男人通常是一家之主。

wear sackcloth and ashes

sackcloth是粗布衣，ash是灰，表面上是說一個人披麻蒙灰的樣子，實際是指一個人為了表示自己道歉的誠意而穿著樸素，有點負荊請罪的感覺

to show by your behaviour that you are very sorry for something you did that was wrong

用你的舉動表示你因為做了錯事而極其懊悔，處于懺悔中

-I broke a vase and my wife made me wear sackcloth and ashes for a week!

我打碎了一個花瓶,我妻子讓我悲切懺悔了一個星期!

wear thin

If your patience wears thin, you become less and less patient.

如果你的耐心wears thin，那就是說你逐漸失去耐心

-I ve warned you several times about being late and my patience is wearing thin.

我多次警告你不要遲到，我對你已經(jīng)失去耐心了。
