“wear two hats”是“戴兩頂帽子”？

字面意思上看就是

“戴兩頂帽子”，

但其實(shí)hat還有一個(gè)引申義

hat

used to refer to one of the various jobs or responsibilities that someone has

職位，職責(zé)

我這是以經(jīng)理的身份在講話。

比如說wear the hats of director and actress就是身兼導(dǎo)演和女主角兩職。所以，wear two hats的意思就是“身兼兩職”

由此我們拓展幾個(gè)短語：

wear another hat 做另一份工作

wear more than one hat 身兼不止一個(gè)職位

wear many hats 身兼數(shù)職

wear the trousers

(especially of a woman) to be the person in a relationship who is in control and who makes decisions for both people

(尤指女性)掌權(quán)當(dāng)家，占主導(dǎo)地位，在一段關(guān)系中能掌控一切或者有決定權(quán)(常被用來泛指有決定權(quán)或最后的發(fā)言權(quán))。

在中國，男人通常是一家之主。

wear sackcloth and ashes

sackcloth是粗布衣，ash是灰，表面上是說一個(gè)人披麻蒙灰的樣子，實(shí)際是指一個(gè)人為了表示自己道歉的誠意而穿著樸素，有點(diǎn)負(fù)荊請(qǐng)罪的感覺

to show by your behaviour that you are very sorry for something you did that was wrong

用你的舉動(dòng)表示你因?yàn)樽隽隋e(cuò)事而極其懊悔，處于懺悔中

-I broke a vase and my wife made me wear sackcloth and ashes for a week!

我打碎了一個(gè)花瓶,我妻子讓我悲切懺悔了一個(gè)星期!

wear thin

If your patience wears thin, you become less and less patient.

如果你的耐心wears thin，那就是說你逐漸失去耐心

-I ve warned you several times about being late and my patience is wearing thin.

我多次警告你不要遲到，我對(duì)你已經(jīng)失去耐心了。
