“一國兩制”的“國”是“country”還是“nation”？

“一國兩制”的“國”是“country”還是“nation”?

“一國兩制”是中國特有的政治制度，翻譯為”one country, two systems”。但是我們的“國慶節(jié)”卻翻譯為”National Day”。

“國”究竟是”country”還是”nation”?

或者還有其他的表達?

我們的漢語中，只有“國家與地區(qū)”，其中“國家”是指“主權(quán)國家”，“地區(qū)”是指“沒有主權(quán)的政治體”，通常都是殖民地、屬地和托管地。

所以，中華人民共和國屬于“國家”，港澳臺屬于“地區(qū)”，美國屬于“國家”，波多黎各和關(guān)島屬于“地區(qū)”。

然而在英語里，可翻譯成國家的詞有三個：country, nation和state。

Country

“country”指一個國家山川大地等自然特征，強調(diào)“疆土、土地”概念。

Nation

Wikipedia: A nation (from Latin: natio," people, tribe, kin, genus, class, flock") is a large group or collective of people with common characteristics attributed to them — including language, traditions, mores(customs), habitus (habits), and ethnicity.

“nation”指生活在某一土地上的族群，是某一特定人群在某種文化意義上的共同體。他們有著共同的一些特征，比如語言、傳統(tǒng)、習(xí)俗等。

我們平時說的“民族”、“國族”、“中華民族”就是這樣一種”nation”的概念。

他的故事感動了全體國民。

● The Chinese are a nation of hardworking.

中國人是一個勤勞的民族。

State

Wikipedia: State (polity), an organized community living under a single political structure and government, sovereign or constituent.

“State”指的是一個國家的“政府、政權(quán)”。

● One may feel the social, economic, and political pulse of the state.

任何人都可以感覺到這個國家的社會，經(jīng)濟和政治的脈搏。

● A state has its obligations to protect people.

政府有義務(wù)保護它的人民。

總而言之，” country” 是地理和國土上的概念;”nation”是從民族和國民層面上而言;而”state”是政治和政權(quán)上的意思。我們和”nation”, “country”之間是先天的，自然的紐帶關(guān)系，我們愛國，這是一種淳樸的感情。而我們和”state”之間則是契約的關(guān)系，我們讓渡一些權(quán)利，組成政府，由其提供公共服務(wù)來保護和服務(wù)我們。
