Sato used Google's Street View service to find the station, waited for her there and followed her.

He also found out where the woman lived by using videos she'd posted on social media that showed how her curtains were positioned and how lights shined through her windows.

An expert on the risks of social media warned that personal information can leak in totally unexpected ways.

"Social media users should be cautious about being identified by shooting locations. And people should avoid posting photos they were taken near their homes or neighbourhood."

He also urges social media users to make images less clear in order to avoid being targeted by what he calls digital stalkers.
