是呀，不錯，繞過好望角就是到南塔開特的最簡捷的航線，斯達巴克不理會斯塔布的問題，突然自言自語起來。"現(xiàn)在在錘擊我們的大風是想叫我們完蛋的呀，我們可以把逆風變順風，順風就會把我們趕向回家的方向嘍。向那邊，向上風的地方，全是兇險的劫數(shù)；可是，向下風呢，向回家的方向呢——我就看到那邊有一片亮光；而且不是閃電的炫光。"

At that moment in one of the intervals of profound darkness, following the flashes, a voice was heard at his side; and almost at the same instant a volley of thunder peals rolled overhead.

就在這時，在緊接著一陣閃電后的烏漆墨黑中，斯達巴克聽到身邊有個聲音；而差不多與此同時，轟隆的一串雷鳴直打頭頂滾過。

且說陸上的塔尖都安有避雷針，可以把那種可怕的氣流給引到地里去；在海上，有些船只也在每根桅桿上，各裝有一支想把氣流引進水里的避雷針。但是，這種避雷針一定要插得相當深，才可以使它的末梢完全不接觸到船殼；而且，要是一直讓它插在那里，除了很可能會跟索具絆在一起，又多少會阻礙船只前進以外，還會發(fā)生許多意外；
