With that he leaped from the canoe, swam to the boat; and climbing the gunwale, stood face to face with the captain.
說著，他就從那獨(dú)木舟上一跳，向小艇游過來，爬上艇舷，跟船長面面相對(duì)了。
Cross your arms, sir; throw back your head. Now, repeat after me. As soon as Steelkilt leaves me, I swear to beach this boat on yonder island, and remain there six days. If I do not, may lightning strike me!
你雙手叉起來，老兄，把頭往后仰點(diǎn)。現(xiàn)在就跟著我說一遍：我發(fā)誓，斯蒂爾基爾特一離開我，我就把這只小艇?？吭谀沁叺膷u上，在那里待上六天。如果我不這樣做的話，天雷劈我！

There, luck befriended him; two ships were about to sail for France, and were providentially in want of precisely that number of men which the sailor headed. They embarked, and so for ever got the start of their former captain, had he been at all minded to work them legal retribution.
斯蒂爾基爾特望著那只小艇，直望到它完全靠了岸，把錨索縛在一棵椰子樹根上，他這才又劃起獨(dú)木舟，及時(shí)到達(dá)他自己的目的地——塔希提。到了那里，運(yùn)氣照顧了他；恰好有兩艘要開往法國的船，而且真是天意注定，他們不多不少，正缺少這個(gè)水手所帶來的這伙人的數(shù)目。他們都上了船，這樣，如果他們先前那個(gè)船長，一心一意想給他們以法律的報(bào)復(fù)，那他們可始終比那個(gè)船長占先一著了。
